Frich Reveals: The Money Habits We're Letting Go of This Spring🌸

We're all for a closet clean-out, but have you ever spring cleaned out your spending habits? This season, Frichies aren't just tossing old jeans. They're reevaluating budgets, canceling subscriptions, and finally admitting that maybe... just maybe... those three food delivery apps are doing a little too much.

Let's take a look at what spending habits are getting the boot this spring.

How does money stress show up in your life?

Let's start with the hard truth: most Frichies are stressed about money, and it's showing up in all kinds of ways. About a third say they deal with it through anxiety or procrastination, and some even avoid checking their balance entirely. Out of sight, out of stress (until your card declines).

Others respond differently. 21% said they overspend to cope, while 12% go the opposite direction and stop spending altogether. Only 20% of Frichies said they don't feel stressed about money at all, which means the rest of us are just trying to make it through the week without a mini financial spiral.

Stress doesn't always show up as panic. Sometimes it looks like putting off a budget check-in for the fourth week in a row, or pretending your subscriptions are someone else's problem. It's sneaky, and a lot less satisfying to clean up than your kitchen junk drawer. So make it a habit to do regular mini checkins for your finances.

What's one money habit you'd like to refresh this season?

Spring is all about fresh starts, and Frichies are definitely in reset mode. When we asked about what habit you'd most like to refresh, the top answers were cutting down on non-essential purchases (23%) and tracking spending more regularly (22%). Classic clean-up energy.

But not everyone's focused on cutting back. 19% said they want to grow their savings, and another 19% are aiming to pay off or reduce debt. 17% are using the season to revisit or set new financial goals, aka giving those New Years resolutions a second chance.

The common threat? It's not just about spending less. It's about being more intentional. And if that means rethinking those midweek 'just-because' purchases, we support it.

What's cluttering up your financial life right now?

Sometimes it's not the big expenses that throw you off. The tiny habits are what pile up behind the scenes. For 33% of Frichies, the biggest culprit is impulse online shopping. Right behind that, 25% said it's too many food delivery orders. Credit card interest and money FOMO were right behind. Less obvious, but just as sneaky.

Financial clutter creeps in slowly, one small habit at a time until your monthly statement looks like a highlight reel of decisions made after 9pm. And if your cart total keeps hitting triple digits "by accident," this might be your sign.

Ready to give your finances a fresh start? Start by cutting one habit that's not serving you and build from there. Spring cleaning doesn't have to be extreme, it just has to move you forward.

Not sure where to begin? Try PocketSmith to see what's really left to spend after bills and goals, or Rocket Money to purge your subscriptions. Even small changes can make a big difference.
