1️⃣ Master the interview process

2️⃣ Get an understanding of benefits and paid time off

3️⃣ Engage with your coworkers

4️⃣ Develop a negotiation strategy

Video 1 - How to Prepare For an Interview

Interviewing can be intimidating, but there are ways to prepare that can boost your confidence. Research the company and understand the role by using their website and social media to learn about their goals and see how your background fits. Prepare answers to common questions like “Tell me about yourself” and “Why are you interested in this role?” be ready to discuss your salary expectations and how you can benefit the company. Plan your attire the night before, keeping the company’s dress code in mind. Remember, first impressions are crucial.

Video 2 - Post-Interview Tips

After an interview, it’s a good idea to ask about the next steps. Typically, you’ll receive a follow-up email with the results and any additional requirements. It’s helpful to ask for the business card of each person you speak with so you can send personalized thank you emails. Make sure to send a follow-up email, ideally on the same day.

Video 3 - When to Consider Negotiating

Start negotiating once you receive a job offer, not during the interview. The offer letter will detail the pay, allowing you to evaluate your worth and conduct market research to provide solid grounds for your counter offer. If the offer is below your best alternative, it might be worth negotiating or declining. However, if the offer is generous and competitive, it may be best to accept it, as it shows the company values you highly.

Video 4 - What to Consider For Your Negotiation Strategy?

When going about salary negotiation, start by researching competitive salaries in your field. Analyze the job description and company to identify their needs, and determine which of your skills are most valuable. If the offer is low, counter with 10-20% above the initial offer. If the pay is average but your skills warrant negotiation, aim for 5-7% above the offer. Ensure your strategy reflects your value without risking your chances with a company that values your financial well-being.

Video 5 - Tips For Becoming a Star Performer

When unsure about the dress code, opt for conservative business casual attire - better to be overdressed than underdressed. Plan your first mornings with extra time to ensure you arrive early. Engage with your coworkers by introducing yourself and setting up coffee chats. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, and identify star performers at your level to learn from their success.

All set!
