Frich Reveals: What Your Shopping Habits Say About You

Whether you pride yourself in being frugal or you're someone who swears that this time was your last impulse buy, your shopping habits say more than you think. This week, we asked Frichies how they spend, what tempts them, what they skip, and how their values show up at checkout. The answers? Slightly chaotic, surprisingly relatable. Let’s see what your clicks, carts, and checkout choices reveal!

What kind of shopper are you?

Turns out, we’re split almost right down the middle. 53% of Frichies say they only buy what they need after saving up. Meanwhile,47% admitted to being a little more impulsive with their purchases.

And hey, we get it. You don’t need to justify the occasional splurge, but it’s helpful to know what kind of a spender you are so you can learn to control your impulses. And let’s be honest: self-control is a lot harder when it ships in two days.

Have you bought things from social media ads?

This one hit close to home. 32% of Frichies said they buy from ads quite regularly, and another 30% said they’ve done it a few times. That means most of us have been influenced, and honestly we’re not shocked.

Between ‘get ready with me’ hauls and videos of people telling us we need the product, it’s no surprise we’ve all added things to our cart that we didn’t know existed 20 seconds earlier. But if you're actively looking for ways to dial back your impulse purchases, here are a few tips from the Frich team:

  • remove your credit card details from Apple Pay
  • unsubscribe from marketing emails
  • unfollow brands & influencers that influence you to consume the most

Would you invest in a company that doesn't align with your personal values if you thought it would make you money?

Just over half of Frichies said no, they wouldn’t invest in a company that clashes with their values, even if it promised solid returns. The other 49% would take the profit and keep it moving. There’s no clear right answer here. Money decisions aren’t always black and white, especially when the ethical line gets blurry. And that’s exactly where things get complicated. It’s easy to talk about values, that is, until your money’s the one doing the talking.

You know what we always say – money is power. Whether you like it or not, it’s part of every aspect of our lives. And the way you manage & spend your money directly affects the world around you. That’s why we’ve partnered with GreenFi for this week's question recap! The climate-friendly alternative to traditional banks empowers you to align your actions with your values without costing you extra money.
