How do I grow my business?
<div class="user-question">I have my own company but our social media has been stagnant for years. Nothing seems to work to get engagement. Do you have any tips?</div>
First: "nothing works" is almost never a talent problem. It's a system problem, and system problems are fixable. When a business's social has been flat for years, it usually traces back to a handful of specific things, not some secret the algorithm is keeping from you.
Run an honest gut-check first. Are you posting consistently, or in bursts whenever someone remembers? Does your feed look cohesive, or like five different people run it? Are you talking with your audience, or just broadcasting at them? And are you looking at your data, or guessing? Most stagnation lives in those four answers. So here's how to break it:
1️⃣ Recommit to a cadence you can actually keep
Stagnation is often just inconsistency wearing a disguise. Pick a realistic rhythm and protect it. It doesn’t mean you have to post every day 5x a day, but showing up predictably is the highest-leverage change most businesses can make.
2️⃣ Get it out of your head and into a visual plan
Part of why business accounts stall is that the plan lives in someone's head, so it only happens when they remember.
Lay your posts out on a visual planner where you can see and rearrange the whole feed before anything goes live. It’s far easier to stay consistent when your plan is somewhere you can look at it, and the payoff is a page that reads as one brand with a point of view. A cohesive feed builds the trust that makes people follow and buy.
3️⃣ Actually engage. Social is a two-way street
Engagement begets engagement.
Reply to comments, ask real questions in your captions, and use tools like Auto-DMs to respond instantly when someone comments a keyword (great for sending a link, a code, or a resource). Social rewards conversation, not just publishing.
4️⃣ Let the data tell you what's working and let the tool do the digging
Stop pouring energy into formats that aren't landing. When your social runs through a platform like Planoly, you can set up an AI system to automatically monitor what competitors in your space are posting, look back at how your own posts have performed, and hand you recommended adjustments, so you make more of what resonates and quietly retire the rest.
You probably already have a "greatest hit" the data will tell you to run again.
5️⃣ Make it sustainable so it doesn't die when you get busy
This is usually the real reason business accounts go quiet.
Everyone's wearing ten hats and social is the first thing to slip. Connect your account to an AI assistant like ChatGPT or Claude and ask it to plan your week, caption a whole folder of content and schedule it out, or repurpose a single idea into posts for every platform, all drafted straight into your calendar. Planoly is one tool you can do this with.
But remember - you approve what goes out.
6️⃣ Repurpose relentlessly
You don't need endless new ideas. One strong idea (a customer question, a behind-the-scenes moment, a lesson learned) can become a Reel, a carousel, a story, and a LinkedIn post. Working smarter here is how small teams keep up.

You don't need to work harder on social, you need a system that runs without you babysitting it daily. Plan it visually, keep it consistent, engage like a human, and let AI carry the repetitive load. That's exactly what Planoly is built to do, and you can try the whole thing free for 14 days to see if it moves the needle for you.
