It felt appropriate to talk to you about online shopping right after Amazon Prime Day sales had ended. So, without further ado, let's dive in!
What Amazon is known for! Cheap, fast and convenient. And the perfect place to find dupes. With every single post on social media lowkey being an advertisement trying to push us to buy something new, let's see how many of you have ended up buying dupes.
And we must say we're surprised by the results!!! A little more than half (way more than expected) have bought a dupe! Our opinion? If you can't really afford to buy something, maybe you don't actually need it?
You know how we feel about BNPL - and it's nothing positive. So we're glad to see that 82% of you have never used BNPL for online shopping. These services are literally built to enable you to fall for the most unnecessary, overpriced impulse purchases.
For the 12% of you that said that you use BNPL regularly, please proceed with caution. Remember that you're basically taking a loan to buy that new dress / shoes / bag. Do you really need it that badly?
A little similar to the first question but with a slight nuance. If people usually buy dupes to save money, fake luxury items are bought for a very different reason. While you still are in a position where you can't afford the original, by buying a fake, you want people to think you can afford it. Ahh... peer pressure...
The truth? People are 50/50! That means half of people that responded have bought a fake luxury item. Remember, not all that shines is gold :) Keep that in mind next time you consider using BNPL to buy the next "it" item that seemingly every other person on this planet already owns.
