Frich Insights: Money & Mental Health

The connection between our mental wellbeing and our financial wellbeing is undeniable. To be completely transparent with you - that's one of the reasons we started Frich! We genuinely believe that if we can make people feel more financially confident, they'll feel better mentally. So last week, we did a deep dive on the link between money & mental wellbeing. See what your peers answered below!

We've also linked a few resources below if you're currently looking for help but might be struggling to afford it.

We were definitely very curious to see the answers to this one roll in! Our suspicion is that the answer to this question varies greatly across generations. But for Frichies - 64% said they'd pay more taxes for free national mental health service! Make your voices heard - remember this year is election year :)

We get it - the market is flooded with overpriced self-help tools that at times feel more harmful than helpful. But do we end up regretting splurging $50 for a de-stress candle? 8% answered that most self-help stuff is pointless (sad), 34% said that they've had a disappointing experience with a therapist (don't give up! finding the right therapist is a little bit like dating), while 58% said that money spent on mental health is always money spent well🥰

The average Frichie answer was $119. However, we don't want to disincentivize you from seeking mental health support if you feel like you can't afford to pay the full price. There are lower-cost options available, such as sliding scale therapists. These income-based discounts can make it possible to see a therapist for half of their listed rate—or even less. Platforms like MyWellbeing and Headspace can also provide affordable and flexible options for counseling. Zocdoc can be a good resource for finding a therapist covered by your health insurance too. Remember, it’s okay to seek help, and taking care of your mental health now will pay off in the long run!

Take care of yourselves & see you next week!
