Frich Insights: Back to Uni (Back for More)

You wanted to talk more about university experiences (& costs) so we did! And we partnered up with two very special partners for this week - Ditch and SideShift - to bring you the best solutions for some very real problems you all are experiencing.

So let's dive in! What's the vibe for this year's back to school season???

We won't ever tell you what to do; at the end of the day it's always your own decision! Though we would advise to tread carefully when taking on additional debt to sustain your social life. Our money expert Kristina has talked a lot about her experience negotiating her sorority dues when she was studying in Austin. Subscribe to our newsletter to get more of her insights!

But if you're currently trying to decide whether it's worth taking on debt to pay your Greek life dues, here's what other Frichies said. 8% said that they took a loan to cover the costs, 76% would never do that, 7% asked for help from parents, and 9% saved up for the costs. Maybe next time we should ask if you were happy with your decision 🤔

The balancing act between attending university, trying to get real-life working experience and also trying not to ruin yourself financially before you've even started your adult life, can be challenging (to say the least LOL).

The reasons for taking on work during your studies can vary greatly, but here's a benchmark for you - 19% are planning to do an internship for the experience while 81% are working part-time for the money.

If you're still looking for part-time gigs that fit your study schedule, check out SideShift!

First of all, there's nothing to feel guilty about. It's not your fault university is so insanely expensive in the US!!! But that, of course, does nothing to make us feel better about relying on our families. If it makes you feel better, you're not the only one!

8% of you also feel guilt for needing the support, 9% feel really guilty and wish they were more financially independent, 43% are grateful for the support and the rest didn't rely on their parents financially.

If you're working towards paying off your college debt (or any other debt), check out our partner Ditch!
