Here at Frich, we celebrated a very important day last week - World Mental Health Day (October 10)! And to celebrate properly with all of you, we wanted to spend more time talking about the connection between money & mental wellbeing. It's probably no surprise that money is one of the top stressors for most of us, so we'd be amiss to not address this!
So last week we partnered up with MyWellbeing, a platform that matches people with affordable therapist options based on their health insurance coverage, to bring you actionable tools to address your mental health this World Mental Health Day! 🫂
But without further ado, let's get into last week's questions & see how y'all are doing!
28% of you said that this is a problem you're currently experiencing. We're here to help you! In the next few weeks we'll be covering more topics on job search & side hustles. In the meantime, we'd recommend you to subscribe to our newsletter - we pack these with useful (& free) resources for all things money, including job search!
For the 41% of you that said that you used to feel this way in the past but not anymore - we hope we had a tiny part in this major success! We're so proud & happy for you!👏
No judgement here, just different priorities (wonder if these change significantly over time...). Though we do think it's telling of our society that the majority (56%) would choose financial stability over mental wellbeing. Here's to hoping we build a society where we're not forced to choose!
In the meantime, we've put together a list of free / low-cost options to work on your mental wellbeing:
🫂 9-8-8 is the national crisis lifeline, offering free, confidential, 24/7 support for individuals experiencing mental health crises, including suicidal thoughts, emotional distress, or substance use concerns
🫂 Text “HELLO” to 741741 for help with help with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, emotional abuse, self-harm, and more. The hotline is available 24/7 and completely free.
🫂 Here are additional crisis resources or free/low fee mental health resources.
Surprisingly Frichies are quite equally split here (we expected it to lean more heavily on 'yes'). 48% said that they tend to do this, with 25% reporting that they do it too often. 52% said that they don't indulge in luxuries to avoid financial stress, with 29% saying that they used to do this in the past, but have learned to ditch this bad habit.
This is great news - let's keep working on making ourselves the best version possible!
